Our History

Lecico has come a long way since its modest early beginning of 1000 pieces of sanitary ware per day. The company was the pioneer in the ceramics business in the Middle East and its origin goes back to 1959 when it started its first manufacturing facility in Lebanon.

1959
The Lebanese Ceramic Industries located in Lebanon was the first ceramic sanitary manufacturer and later on became one of the founders of Lecico Egypt.

1974
Gargour family incorporated Lecico as a joint stock company in Egypt.

1978
In Alexandria – Sanitary ware production started with a modest beginning of 1000 sanitary pieces per day.

1987
Lecico subsidiaries established in both the UK (Lecico plc) and France (Lecico France). Both subsidiaries are responsible for the marketing and distribution of Lecico’s products in the United Kingdom and France.

1994
Lecico awarded the BS certificate.

1997
Sanitec Ltd OY, the leading manufacturer of sanitary ware in Europe acquired 37.5% of the Lecico group. Lecico for Ceramic Industries (LFC) established in Borg El Arab.

1999
Borg El Arab Factory 2 completed. LFC begins manufacturing of sanitary ware under Lecico brand name and on behalf of other international customers.

2000
Lecico acquired a controlling interest in Lecico Lebanon.
Lecico awarded the ISO 9001 certificate and the KIWA and NF certificates.

2004
Lecico completes the simultaneous public offering in the London Stock Exchange and the Cairo Alexandria Stock Exchanges (CASE)
